Diageo Launches Ciroc Summer Colada & Johnnie Walker Aged 18 Years in Lagos

Diageo has launched two new varieties of its premium vodka and whisky brands – Ciroc and Johnnie Walker.

In a concert-styled launch that took place over the course of last week in Lagos, the giant drink company introduced the new premium varieties to its customers.

Afrobeat star and global Ciroc brand ambassador, Wizkid was the headline performer at the Ciroc Summer Colada Limited Edition official launch. The Starboy Music leading act performed alongside Smirnoff Vodka ambassador, DJ Spinall.

The event took place on Thursday, 13th December 2018 at the magnificent Circa Mall, Lekki.

CÎROC Summer Colada Limited Edition is an ultra-premium flavoured vodka infused with delicate natural pineapple flavours and coconut cream notes.

Distilled six times to ensure high quality and a smooth essence, it is best enjoyed with a splash of pineapple juice and a wedge of pineapple.

CÎROC is a brand of eau-de-vie vodka, manufactured by using grapes from the Charente-Maritime region of France.

CÎROC brand of vodka drink is produced and distributed by the British-based multinational alcoholic beverage maker Diageo.

Johnnie Walker 18 Years

Johnnie Walker 18 Years is simply the old Johnnie Walker Platinum without the ‘Platinum’ name attached to it and with a sizzling new label and bottle design.

The new Johnnie Walker 18 Years was unveiled in Lagos on Sunday, 16th December 2018 at a private venue.

Blended from whiskies that have matured for at least 18 years, it combines sophisticated and contemporary tastes with classic Johnnie Walker flavours.

It offers aromas of rich sweet fruit, toffee, caramel and vanilla with a hint of smoke. The palate expresses notes of dark fruits, cereal, vanilla, almonds, tangerines and a gentle smoke.

Johnnie Walker 18 Years comes in a newly-designed, gold-detailed sophisticated bottle.

Launched globally by Diageo last year, Johnnie Walker Aged 18 Years finally made its entrance to Nigeria heralded by performances from afrobeat stars – Burnaboy and Kizz Daniel.

CÎROC brand of vodka and Johnnie Walker whiskies are officially owned by the British-based multinational alcoholic beverage maker Diageo.

Will P-Diddy’s Use of Mr Eazi’s “Skin Tight” in a Social Media AD Boost Sales for Ciroc Vodka in Nigeria?

Hip Hop mogul and international brand ambassador for Ciroc Vodka, Sean ‘P-Diddy’ Combs recently used Mr Eazi’s hit single “Skin Tight” for an Advert(AD) on social media.

Diddy captioned the AD #watch #deleonnights as part of the campaign for his DeLeon Tequila brand. Ciroc Mango bottles and Ciroc logos were also visible in the AD.

With Mr Eazi gaining himself a new wave of popularity, the AD might actually boost sales for Ciroc vodka considering that DeLeon Tequila is yet to be sold in the country.

Maybe Diddy is plans to launch DeLeon Tequila in Nigeria, and using a popular song from one of the country’s musicians is a step in that direction.

Apparently, Diddy’s AD confirms the power of music in pushing certain brands, which explains one major reason why beverage companies endorse musicians as brand ambassadors.

However, some commenters on social media were quick to note that Diddy should have used any of Tekno’s hit track for the AD if his target was the Nigerian market.

The “Pana” crooner was recently announced as brand ambassador for Ciroc Nigeria along with media personality Toke Makinwa, with Banky W renewing his contract again.

Against the backdrop of the comments, Diddy’s AD may not necessarily have been targeted at Nigeria, it could have just been the use of a rave-of-the-moment music genre to boost a brand.

That notwithstanding, two brands will benefit most from the AD – Ciroc Vodka and Mr Eazi.  So we can now say, with Ciroc Nigeria, life is now Eazi right?
