Beer is the world’s most widely consumed alcoholic beverage and is the third most popular drink, coming after tea and water. It is believed to be the oldest fermented beverage, dating back to the early Neolithic era circa 9500 BC when cereal was first farmed. Beverages similar to beer in content have also been recorded in the written history of Ancient Iraq and Ancient Egypt.
Beer is produced by the scarification of starch and fermentation of the sugar, which is produced during the process. The starch and scarification enzymes used in beer are often derived from malted barley and malted wheat. Hops or other herbs are then added to beer to give it the authentic bitter, yet crisp taste that we all know and love.
Beer comes in a myriad of different varieties, shades and strengths; the most common beers are the pale ale and the mild ale or lager made from top-fermenting yeast and malted barley. However, Stouts, which are dark beers, brewed using roasted malts and roasted barley, are widely available and extremely popular throughout Nigeria.
Drinks.ng are delighted to take this opportunity to display our diverse range of premium beers and stouts from across the globe. Whether you prefer local beers brewed here in Nigeria or if you have a penchant for beers, lagers and stouts from Europe and America, Drinks.ng has the right beer for you!
