Pernod Ricard has confirmed that its London office was hit by a cyber attack last week during operational hours of Tuesday, August 8 2017.

While a spokeswoman has revealed that the event had “no impact on business operations”, the company’s shares dropped by 2.1% to an intraday low of €116.9 in Paris.

The attack on the French Company took place at midday, with the IT team noticing “unusual activity”.

“At midday on Tuesday, we discovered unusual activity and evidence of a cyber attack at Pernod Ricard London”.

“This has been fully contained with no impact on business operations,” the spokeswoman narrated.

This is not the first time a business in UK’s capital has been hit with a cyber attack recently. A recent survey of 1,200 businesses across the UK by the British Chambers of Commerce, has revealed that 20% had been hit by a cyber-attack in the last 12 months.

Pernod Ricard, one of such businesses, is set to release its annual report at the end of this month. The company hold the license for some of the world’s most premium spirits including Absolut vodka, Martel cognac, Chivas whisky, Jameson Irish whisky and Olmeca tequila.
