Heineken introduces non-alcoholic version of signature beerWritten by David MasifonPosted on 05 18, 2017
Heineken has joined the shift towards a healthier consumption of beverages by launching a zero-alcohol, low-calorie version of their signature lager called Heineken 0.0.
Non-alcoholic beer? Yes! The Heineken 0.0 is without the 5% alcohol you find in an original Heineken lager, and The Dutch company has been working for years to create this special brand.
“Removing alcohol from regular 5% Heineken would have been easy, but it wouldn’t deliver the best tasting non-alcoholic beer,” Willem van Waesberghe, Global Craft and Brew Master at Heineken said in a press release.
“Heineken 0.0 is brewed from scratch and has a perfectly balanced taste with refreshing fruity notes and soft malty body.”
Reuters reports that the giant brewers is seeking to tap into a market which grew about 5% a year from 2010 to 2015, and plan to become the leading global zero-alcohol beer brand in 10 to 15 years.
The beer, which contains only 69 calories, has already been introduced to the public over the past weekend at Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, and is now set to go on sale in 14 markets.
