The Baron Philippe Domaine Baron D’Arques wine is an impressive deep dark black ruby colour, with a youthful purple rim. It has a ripe forward aromatic nose, and is slightly heady with hints of caramel, tobacco and vanilla. As with any wine from Chateau Mouton Rothschild, this is quality.
The history of the Chateau Mouton Rothschild can be traced back to 1853, when Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought Chateau Brane-Mouton at auction so he could serve prestigious guests his own wine. The estate at Pauillac in the heart of the Medoc took up the name Chateau Mouton Rothschild from that point on. Today, the business is still being managed successfully by the family.
