The Glenmorangie Distillery is located in the far North of Scotland, beside the ancient Royal Burgh of Tain. Glenmorangie is still perfected by the Sixteen Men of Tain today. In the Gaelic language, Glenmorangie means a valley of tranquility. It defines the distillery’s peaceful setting on the banks of the picturesque Dornoch Firth. The Glenmorangie Distillery was founded in 1843 when the Matheson brothers converted their Morangie farm into a distillery. The distillery lies just north of Tain, on the wind-swept coastline of Easter Ross. Their stills are the tallest found in Scotland as tall as a giraffe, apparently of the same design as those used in the 1880s which were in fact second-hand Gin stills. This means that only the very lightest vapours make it to the top, resulting in a smooth and elegant Scotch Whisky.
