Where is Glenfiddich From And What's Its History

To answer the question, “Where is Glenfiddich from?” Simply, the Glenfiddich whisky range is manufactured in Speyside, Scotland, by William Grant & Sons Limited, a family-owned distillery. The Glenfiddich Distillery is known for producing a luxurious range of Scotch whiskies and other world-famous, award-winning brands of spirits.

What’s the history of Glenfiddich?

The history of Glenfiddich is one of the strong family bonds, unity, and resilience. 47-year-old William Grant founded the Glenfiddich distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, in the summer of 1886. He built the distillery by hand, with the help of his nine children and a hardworking mason. Because the distillery is located on the banks of the Fiddich River, Grant named it “Glenfiddich,” Gaelic for “Valley of the Deer”.

After a year of intense labour, the first drop of whisky dripped off the distillery’s copper-pot stills on December 25, 1887. Today, William Grant’s passion, pioneering spirit, and determination to become the distiller of “the best whisky in the valley of Dufftown” continue to guide Glenfiddich Distillery, which is now managed by the fifth generation of the Grant family. In 1903, Glenfiddich was incorporated as William Grant & Sons.

Glenfiddich was one of the world’s first single malt brands. Today, Glenfiddich is the world’s biggest-selling and most decorated single malt, sold in about 180 different countries around the world. In fact, it’s said that Glenfiddich constitutes 30% of the Single Malt whiskies sold in the world; and the brand remains one of the few family-owned distilleries in existence today.
